CAPTURE4TLI

About:

Society of Transport & Logistics Sri Lanka (SLSTL), the domestic partner of the Eastern Asia Society for Transportation Studies (EASTS), is organizing its 3rd nternational conference on Research for Transport and Logistics Industry (R4TLI) on 7th July 2018. Capture4TLI2018 is a photography exhibition, for the 2nd consecutive year, which captures issues and innovations in the Transport & Logistics sector in Sri Lanka.

Guidelines:

A contestant is allowed to submit a maximum of 3 entries of his/her own illustrating either a critical aspect of issues faced by people in meeting their mobility needs or innovative transport/logistics solution/s to meet such issues. Email the entries to naleendealwis90@gmail.com with “Capture4TLI 2018” in the subject on or before (EXTENDED) 6th of July 2018 not later than 10AM indicating the following in the body;

  1. Full Name
  2. Contact Number
  3. Residential address
  4. Affiliation (if any)
  5. Short write-up describing the story of your capture (not more than 40 words)

Specification for Photograph:

  • Digital Image with file name and format as “Name_Initials_PhotoNumber.jpg”
  • Minimum Resolution 4R (1200 * 1800) <Reduced from 8R>
  • Color or Monochrome
  • Best five (5) captures will be invited to present at the R4TLI conference and the winner will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 15,000/=

Publications

All papers submitted will be fully peer reviewed and accepted papers published as Proceedings of the conference in the new R4TLI journal to be launched in August 2017 either as a Special Issue of Conference Proceedings or in a regular issue.

Instructions for Authors

  • Slide Template is attached here. Kindly use same to prepare your presentation slides. Please save your presentation in lower version (i.e. 2003 version or below).
  • The presentation would be for 15 minutesand presenters are requested to time their presentations.
  • The number of slides should not exceed 20. Less than 15 is preferred.
  • There will be 10 minutesfor question and answers.
  • The minimum font size to be used in the slides is size 14 (in tables). Main texts should not be smaller than size 18.
  • You should submit both “ppt” and “pdf” files of your presentation on or before 29th June, 2018 to editor-r4tli@slstl.lk
  • Please find your session number from the updated conference program (i.e. A1.1)
  • Save your file according to your session number (i.e R4TLI-A1.1)

  • A number of Awards will be awarded during the last session (closing ceremony) for the Best Research under several categories based on submitted paper and conference presentation adjudged by a panel judges during presentation.

Poster Presentation

Instructions for Poster Presentation (Download here)

  • Poster presenters should prepare their presentation to an A0 paper (W: 841mm x H: 1189mm) size – portrait orientation in advance and bring them to the conference.
  • On-site printing service is NOT available.
  • Posters could be mounted (Stapled: organizers will facilitate mounting) to the wooden frame of about W: 900mm x H: 1200mm provided at the conference hall
  • Poster presenters are required to present their poster during both poster sessions [Morning (10:30-11:00) & Evening (15:45-16:15) tea breaks).
  • Top most area must contain; (a) Title, (b) Authors Name/s, Affiliation/s.

General Guidelines

  • Important information should be readable from about 10 feet away
  • Keep content SIMPLE (E.g.; Problem Statement or Project Purpose, Methodology or Approach, Conclusions, Recommendations)
  • Word count of about 300 to 800words
  • Effective use of graphics, color and fonts is encouraged
  • Preferable Font Sizes –
    • Title: 60 pts
    • Body and headings: 30 pts
    • Text: no smaller than 18 pts
  • Use of bullets, numbering, and headlines ensuring that it is easy to read
  • Consistent and clean layout
  • Includes acknowledgments, your name and institutional affiliation
  • Authors are expected toprepare a brief (up to 5 minute) oral presentation for delivering to small audiences gathered around the poster

Awards

The following awards are being planned. Each session will adjudged by panel of judges. Research awards will be made only for presentation for which full papers have been submitted by the due date. The quality of the extended paper, the presentation and the full paper, research process, scientific value, and industry relevance will be considered in the selection. In addition, the best Photographic Exhibit out of the five photography showcases related to Transport & Logistics.

Our Objective

R4TLI is an initiative that endeavors to promote research and development in the transport & logistics sector in Sri Lanka and the region that would help diagnose its current issues and identify potential improvements based on scientific evidence. This annual research conference intends to build a platform where the needs of the industry can be discussed and scientific processes developed for rectification of issues can be showcases through research presentations.

Industry Contributions

Industry leaders are requested to view this conference as a potential platform for collaboration with academia for developing new business areas and improving current performances. Industry leader will be requested to actively participate in the conference proceedings.

Call for Papers

Abstracts are called from researchers as per attached format. The following guidelines are provided for acceptance of papers for presentation and publication.

  • All papers should be based on industry relevance and fall within one or more of the identified conference topics given above.
  • A title and author names/affiliations page should be submitted by 15th Feb 2018.
  • An Extended Abstract of not more than 1000 words should be submitted on or before 30th March 2018.
  • Authors will be notified no later than 1st May 2018 on the acceptance of their Extended Abstracts.
  • Authors can submit Full Papers for review and publication to be submitted on or before 31st July 2018.
  • Based on recommendations of independent Reviewers and of the panel of judges at the Conference, the authors of selected Extended Abstracts of acceptable quality will be invited to submit Full Papers, in view of publishing those either in the SLSTL’s double-blind peer-reviewed
    Journal
  • Authors are invited to submit the title and authors name on or before February 15, 2018 to editor-r4tli@slstl.lk. Extended abstracts of 1000 words should be submitted to the editor-r4tli@slstl.lk by the deadline of March 30, 2018. Abstract submission instructions are attached below. Authors will be notified of the decision pertaining to acceptance of extended abstracts by May 1st, 2018.
