R4TLI 2017

Our Objective

R4TLI is an initiative that endeavors to promote research and development in the transport & logistics sector in Sri Lanka and the region that would help diagnose its current issues and identify potential improvements based on scientific evidence. This annual research conference intends to build a platform where the needs of the industry can be discussed and scientific processes developed for rectification of issues can be showcases through research presentations. The inaugural conference last year was attended by nearly 200 participants from xx countries and showcased nearly 50 papers.

Our Organisation

In this respect the Society of Transport & Logistics Sri Lanka a member of the East Asia Society for Transport Studies (EASTS) will be organizing the conference with sponsorship of CML Walkers. It will seek endorsements from the East Asia Society for Transport Studies (EASTS), along with government and private sector agencies in Sri Lanka.

ABSTRACTS AND PAPERS

Industry Contributions

Industry leaders are requested to view this conference as a potential platform for collaboration with academia for developing new business areas and improving current performances. Industry leader will be requested to actively participate in the conference proceedings.

Call for Papers

Abstracts are called from researchers as per attached format. The following guidelines are provided for acceptance of papers for presentation and publication.

  • All papers should be based on industry relevance and fall within one or more of the identified conference topics given above.
  • A title and author names/affiliations page should be submitted by 28th Feb 2017.
  • An Extended Abstract of not more than 1000 words should be submitted on or before 15th April 2017.
  • Authors will be notified no later than 30th April 2017 on the acceptance of their Extended Abstracts.
  • Authors can submit Full Papers for review and publication to be submitted on or before 31st May 2017.
  • Authors could also submit a one page digital poster for display during the conference and separate publication especially for industry participants on or before 31st May.

Theme: Issues and Innovations in Transport and Logistics Industry

Specifications:

  • Digital image in “jpg” format
  • Resolution (5MP to 16MP)
  • Colour or Monochrome

Guidelines:

  • A contestant is allowed to submit a maximum of 3 entries
  • The photograph must capture a story of a transport problem or an innovation
  • The photo must have been taken by the applicant

Publications

All papers submitted will be fully peer reviewed and accepted papers published as Proceedings of the conference in the new R4TLI journal to be launched in August 2017 either as a Special Issue of Conference Proceedings or in a regular issue.

Presentations

  • There will be 15 minutes for each presentation and 10 minutes for questions.
  • It is recommended for presentations to be limited to 20 slides and to use font size of at least 20.

Digital Poster

All presenters are encouraged to submit a digital poster which will be printed and displayed at the conference. Since the conference is aimed at industry implementation of research, presenters are advised to use the digital poster to communicate the outputs and outcomes of their research as relevant to industry. These digital posters will also be published as proceedings along with the Extended Abstracts as a separate volume.

Awards

Several awards representing the best papers in each category and awards for students are being planned including the R4TLI Best Researcher and R4TLI Young Researcher Award. Awards will be made only for presentation for which full papers have been submitted by the due date. The quality of the extended paper, the presentation, the full paper as well as the digital poster, research process, scientific value, and industry relevance will be considered in the selection.
